What values shape your life?
I have come to my calling of hoistic life coaching with a strong background in traditional therapy methods. I've done my time on the couch... and now know way more about myself than I ever thought possible. I feel as though my era of self discovery is turning a corner and I am moving into the work of Reclaiming my True Self.
In my practice, I guide clients through a process I call the Alchemy of Happiness. The following are base elements, aka core values, that we use to turn an ordinary exisitance into an extraordinary life. I ask clients to reflect and journal on the core values described below. How do they show up in your life now...? How could embracing them and putting them into action in your life transform your way of living? Where do you see them modeled now? How were they modeled in your childhood? Do you see yourself modeling them for others?
These core values are the buliding blocks that define your true self, self image, strength of character... It is in your interpretation and implementation of these values that you will "flesh out" who your really are.
Love: Openheartedness. Childlike innocence and wonder, with fierce commitment to truth and authentic, uncensored expression. Love includes true, unconditional friendship.
Authenticity: The crossroads where love and truth meet; to live and act from the union of these two in each moment.
Faith: Believing when it's beyond the power of reason to believe. Faith is a natural result of a living connection to Spirit.
Courage: To express our values fully requires courage. We must know our own depths and be willing to dive deep and draw strength from our own magic and mystery. Courage requires us to be present, to be in the now and to show up for others, to welcome change; to be open minded and receptive to what is occurring around us; to be willing to do things differently, to make mistakes and to learn from them and from others; to take risks, to be confrontive and proactive when necessary; to be able to ask for help.
Honesty: Being truthful in thought, word and deed.
Commitment: Our no matter what approach to living our dreams. The regular disciplined practice of taking bottom line responsibility for creating our life. Being accountable to follow through with the values we articulate. The power to make concise, effective decisions. To be committed is to work with our full capacity, our creativity, intention, wisdom and intuition with every situation and in every encounter.
Congruency: To "Walk your talk". The inner strength that grows when our actions match our words. When intention and commitment come together, congruency happens.
Integrity: Acting in alignment with stated values and beliefs. Doing our best in any given situation. Being true to ourselves while being real and honest with others. Following through with what we believe.
Perfect Health: the crossroads between exclusive emphasis on the body and those who leave it behind. Being whole includes moving towards a more joyful experience with our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual selves.
Service: The heart of compassion; to be capable of giving back freely without expecting anything in return.
Gratitude: A simple state of being in which we value the life we've been given and experience trust and appreciation for the mystery of how our life unfolds.
Sustainability: The spirit of innovation achieving fiscal, human and ecological balance beyond excellence. Weaving ourselves back into the web of life by respecting and working with the cycles of nature. Making ecologically compassionate choices by living lightly on the earth.
These gentle friends are my personal core values. They are jumping off point for each moment of my extraordinary life.
What fear would you like to abandon forever?
One of my passions is concious parenting. Parenting that creates and nurtures growth on all levels. I've discovered that this "style" of parenting no longer applies to just my children, it applies to all of my relationships. From how I interact with my own parents to how I give compassion and insights to someone in the grocery store line
thanks for asking,
Laura
Intentional Solitude
I was meditating on that this afternoon and chose to ask guidance from the
very book that we so often used in the meetings of Hecate... Women Who Run
With the Wolves, Clarissa Pinkola Este's
When I opened the pages, this is what presented. I think it fits so well.
(I'm touch typing now, so pls forgive any errors I might have missed)
In order to converse with the wild feminine, a woman must temporarily leave
the world and inhabit a state of aloneness in the oldest sense of the word.
Long ago the word "alone" was treated as two words, "all one". To be "all
one" meant to be wholly one, to be in oneness, either essentially or
temporarily, That is precisely the goal of solitude, to be "all one". It
is the cure for the frazzled state so common to modern women, the one that
makes her, as the old saying goes, "leap onto her horse and ride of in all
directions".
Solitude is not an absence of energy or action, as some believe, but is
rather a boon of wild provisions transmitted to us from the soul. In
ancient times, as recorded by physician-healers, religious and mystics,
purposeful solitide was both palliative and preventative. It was used to
heal fatigue and to prevent weariness. It was also used as an oracle, as a
way of listening to the inner self to solicit advice and guidance otherwise
impossible to hear in the din of the daily life.
SO what are you doing in this time of All One Ness? How are you resting and
preparing?
This space between the vibrant colors of Fall and the dark of Winter is a
time to prepare for a long and lonely journey. Prepare for the coming
darkness. Prepare for the journey deep into your own dark places. A
journey that each of us must make alone. Although we all travel together in
this group... the walk into the dark is done alone. We will share, we will
encourage, we will come out the other side together... but it is a job that
we each must do for ourselves, by our selves. It can't be done any other
way. So make ready sweet sisters... to clear and clean and investigate with
patience and explore with wonder the corners of your Self.
I take this evening to set intention dear ladies for the coming dark winter.
To welcome you again to the circle we have created and to offer
encouragement as we all enter the coming winter.
Blessed Be
Laura
